Hello
Thank you for your recent enquiry about our Online Dyslexia Specialist Tuition. I wanted to share a little more about how we work and what makes our approach different.
Our Tutors 👩🏫
All our tutors are qualified dyslexia specialists, holding at least a Level 5 qualification in teaching students with dyslexia or specific learning difficulties.
The title ‘dyslexia specialist’ isn’t a protected one – so it’s important to check qualifications carefully.)
What makes our online tuition as effective as face-to-face face
✔️ Tailored Programmes – designed around your child's profile. We use an Orton-Gillingham approach, which is a recommended approach for dyslexic children, using programmes such as Alpha to Omega or Kelly and Phillips (although there are other programmes that tutors might choose, depending on the child).
✔️ Multisensory and engaging – interactive tools, games and activities to make learning enjoyable and effective. We do this by sharing our screen and giving remote control to the student.
✔️ We use a variety of resources, and the student will not just type. They will also write using a whiteboard that they can hold up. More formal activities involving writing on lined paper will mean that they can be emailed to us or photos sent via WhatsApp by the parents.
✔️ For older students undertaking GCSE examinations, we have Dyslexia specialist tutors who are also English teachers, so they not only have the skills of a dyslexia specialist but the knowledge of a GCSE English subject teacher.
✔️ Flexible – delivered online in the comfort of your own home at times to suit you.
✔️ Parents can observe lessons easily while doing other tasks. This means that you will develop strategies to support your child and have a clear understanding of how lessons are progressing.
✔️ Evidence-based – research supports that one-to-one online tuition is just as effective as face-to-face.
✔️No travel required- specialist support wherever you are without the time cost and hassle of travel
